Workshop and Related Information

The Delta Bow Valley Hotel in Calgary will be the conference venue. A limited number of rooms has been set aside at the Delta Bow Valley Hotel for participants and early confirmation of reservations is recommended. Once the block of rooms reserved for the Workshop has been booked, reservation of rooms at the hotel is subject to space and rate availability. As there are a number of other events in Calgary concurrent with the SaskVal Workshop, we encourage participants to make their reservations at the earliest possible date.

The hotel is located in Calgary’s downtown area, where the city’s business and cultural districts meet. The hotel is connected to the Calgary skywalk system, which allows pedestrian access to the downtown area by a series of elevated walkways. Transportation to Calgary:

Calgary International Airport (YYC) is served by most international carriers, including Air Canada and other  Star Alliance members, Delta Airlines (Skywest Airlines) with twice daily connections via Minneapolis and United Express (Skywest Airlines)  with service to Chicago and Denver. Charter airlines such as Air Transat and Sunwing Airlines also provide service to Calgary. A domestic airline, WestJet, provides service from most cities in Canada.

Transportation from Calgary International Airport to the Delta Bow Valley Hotel

The hotel uses the Allied Downtown Shuttle Service which departs every 30 minutes from Bus Bay #8. Tickets may be purchased from the Allied Shuttle counter on the Arrivals level near Gate C, or may be purchased online

City bus transportation is available at the airport and will take you to the city centre (Route 300 BRT Airport/City Centre. Stop E is close to the hotel: The bus fare is $8.50 and no change is given.

Taxis are available and will cost approximately $40 - $45 for the one-way trip. Most major car rental agencies also have desks at the airport.

Fee for participants and students includes:  Conference kit, program and abstracts, participation in all scientific sessions, 3 continental breakfasts and coffee at breaks, 3 lunches, opening reception and Workshop Dinner.

For accompanying persons, the registration fee includes the opening reception and the Workshop Dinner. If the accompanying person wishes to attend the meeting, then they should register as a participant.

Transportation to and from the dinner is included.

All participants must submit a registration form and are encouraged to register in advance.   Accompanying persons may register on site at the Workshop Registration Desk.



On-line registration is available on the website, Registration fees must be paid directly to SaskVal. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer or Paypal (see left side of screen).  Details are provided on the registration form.  Please ensure that registration forms are submitted together with payment (one per participant) and that details stated are clear and legible. Hotel reservations and payment should be arranged directly with the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel Saskatoon.

the bank transfer. Bank charges are the responsibility of the payee and should be paid at source in addition to the registration fee.


Our refund policy is based upon receiving notification as follows:

  1. Postmarked until January 25, 2015- full refund less CDN$100 handling fee
  2. Postmarked after January 25, 2015 and before April 30, 2015- 50% refund
  3. Postmarked from April 30, 2015-  no refund

Cancellations will also be accepted by e-mail at, with the same deadlines above.

Substitutions of pre-paid registration by other attendees from the same organization will be permitted with prior notification from the original registrant.


Upon request, the Workshop Organizing Committee will send a personal letter of invitation to participate in the Conference.  Such invitations are only meant to assist participants raise travel funds or obtain a visa and do not represent a commitment on the part of the Organizing Committee.

Please confirm with your travel agent whether you will require a visa to enter Canada. A valid Passport is required to travel to Canada.


Each session will have a theme with a keynote speaker, an invited speaker and presenting speakers, supplemented by posters. Papers for oral presentation will be selected from the submitted abstracts by the scientific committee to provide a range of perspectives to complement the keynote presentation for each session. Remaining abstracts will be presented as posters to facilitate small group discussions. Each technical session will include an open discussion to explore the topics presented.
